SEWING CLASSES
LEARN HOW TO SEW, ALTER, REPAIR, AND CREATE GARMENTS IN OUR BROOKLYN STUDIO OR YOURS.
Learn the skills to make and repair your own clothing.
At 2fifty Clothing, we handle alterations and repairs with the same care we bring to custom garments. Whether it is denim that has worn in perfectly, pants that almost fit right, a jacket that needs adjusting, or a piece that deserves to be rebuilt instead of retired, we take the time to understand the garment and what you want it to become.
Our work is personal, practical, and detail-focused. The goal is not to make your clothing feel “fixed.” The goal is to make it feel natural again — like it belongs on you.
Whether you are bringing in a fabric you have been saving, recreating your favorite pair of pants, developing a sample for your brand, or rebuilding a piece that still matters to you, our goal is the same: to make the garment feel personal, functional, and built to last.
Choose the package best tailored to your wishes
One-off Class
A single hands-on sewing session for beginners, creatives, or anyone who wants to learn a specific skill. This is a good option if you want to try sewing, learn how to use a machine, work on a small repair, or get help with one focused project.
Bundle Options
A multi-class option for students who want to build real sewing confidence over time. Bundle classes are ideal for learning the basics, practicing garment construction, working through alterations, or developing a project step by step with guidance.
Group Classes
A creative group class for friends, teams, events, or small groups who want to learn together. Group classes can be built around beginner sewing, simple projects, repairs, customization, or a shared creative experience in the studio.
What do you want to learn?
Everyone comes to sewing for a different reason. Some people want to fix their clothes. Some want to make their first garment. Some want to customize pieces, learn fashion basics, or start building samples for a brand.
Our classes can be shaped around your level, your interests, and the kind of clothing work you want to do.
Beginner Sewing Class
For first-time students or anyone who wants to stop feeling intimidated by the sewing machine. Learn machine setup, threading, stitching, seams, fabric handling, measuring, cutting, and basic construction.
Alterations or Repair Class
For people who want to make their own clothes fit better and last longer. Learn hems, patching, buttons, seam repairs, simple fit adjustments, and how to look at a garment before making changes.
Garment Making Class
For students ready to make something wearable. Learn how to plan a simple garment, cut fabric, sew pieces together, fit the garment, and finish it cleanly.
Upcycling or Customization Class
For people who want to turn existing clothing into something new. Learn patchwork, visible mending, decorative repairs, simple reconstruction, and creative ways to rework garments.
Designer Starter Class
For aspiring designers or brand owners who want to better understand construction. Learn how garments are built, how samples are developed, how to think through fit and fabric, and how to communicate your ideas clearly.
You do not have to be “good at sewing” to start.
These classes are for anyone who wants to learn the skill seriously, even if they are starting from zero.
They are a strong fit for:
- Beginners who have never used a sewing machine
- People who want to alter or repair their own clothes
- Creatives who want to customize garments
- Fashion students who want more hands-on support
- Designers who want to understand construction better
- People starting a clothing brand
- Anyone who wants to make something with their hands

Questions before you start
Do I need sewing experience to take a class?
No. We offer beginner-friendly classes for people with little or no sewing experience. We can start with the basics, including machine setup, threading, stitching, fabric handling, and simple sewing techniques.
What kind of class should I book first?
If you are brand new, start with a one-off beginner class. If you want to build real confidence, a class bundle is the better option. If you are coming with friends or planning a creative experience, group rates are the best fit.
Can I bring my own clothing or project?
Yes, depending on the class. You can bring a garment for alterations, repairs, customization, or project guidance. We will review what you want to work on and let you know what is realistic for the session.
Do you offer private and group sewing classes?
Yes. We offer one-off classes, bundle classes, and group rates. Classes can be structured around beginner sewing, repairs, alterations, garment making, customization, or creative projects.
Can I learn how to make my own clothes?
Yes. We can help you build toward garment making, but beginners usually start with the foundation first. Once you understand the machine, fabric, seams, cutting, and construction basics, we can move into simple wearable projects.

See the ProcessWhat we make
We specialize in hands-on garment work that is difficult to find off the rack: one-of-one pieces, denim and leather work, alterations, repairs, samples, and pattern development.
Custom Garments
Jackets, pants, shirts, statement pieces, and original designs made around your body, your references, and your style.
Denim, Leather & Repairs
Specialty construction, fit adjustments, repairs, rebuilds, and custom work using durable materials that deserve proper attention.
Samples & Patternmaking
Support for designers who need pattern development, first samples, production pieces, or help turning an idea into something wearable.
How custom work happens here
Good custom clothing is not rushed. We take the time to understand the project, measure properly, sample when needed, and refine the fit before final construction.
Consultation
We talk through the garment, references, fabric, fit, purpose, timeline, and budget so the project starts with clear direction.
Measurements in studio or at your home
Measurements can be taken in our Brooklyn studio or at your location when the project calls for it. The goal is a fit that works in real life, not just on paper.
Quote and project approval
After reviewing the details, we provide a quote based on construction time, materials, fittings, sampling, and complexity. Once approved, we move into production.
Sample or muslin fitting
For many custom garments, we create a sample first so the proportions, movement, and fit can be adjusted before the final fabric is cut.
Final construction and finishing
Your garment is cut, sewn, finished, and reviewed in-house with care for fit, durability, and the details that make the piece feel complete.
